You can find this little clip on the ends of every connection of your Dyson vacuum cleaner. They are on the tools, on the heads, on the wand and without them you cannot connect the parts together. After time or because of mechanical damage, these clips can wear or break forcing you to replace the affected vacuum cleaner part.
